Chapter 11: Socially positive media: Teaching good things to children (and the rest of us)
• Of course, not all media has negative effects, and here we focus on media created to do just the
opposite: benefit individuals and society. We examine such prosocial media aimed at children,
with a special focus on Sesame Street. We also look at social marketing and how it has been
used in attempts to increase the health and wellbeing of children and adults alike. In addition,
