Sometimes LANs are described in terms of the way their components are connected together, or
their topology. ere are three major LAN topologies: star, bus, and ring (see Figure 7.6).
In a star topology, all devices on the network connect to a single hub. Figure 7.6 illustrates a simple
star topology in which all network traffic ows through the hub. In an extended star network,
