Chapter 13: What Does the Social Media World Have That Is New?
Learning Objectives
• Summarize the areas covered in previous chapters.
• Identify emerging trends to note for the future in social media.
• Explain best practices and next steps for continuing to learn about the science and art of social
media.
Ice Breaker Questions and Exercises
• Ask the students to reflect on the class material. Which session did they like the most? Which
section did they not like and why?
• What are going to be some of their next steps moving forward? Have the students write down
three things they are going to do next to continue their education and share with the class.
• What were the class takeaways from the social media class? What advice would they give to
future classes? Crowdsource these ideas to collect as memoir of the class experience.
Areas to Cover
• Social media is going to constantly change and evolve. What is important is to make sure to have
the skills to be able to adapt and react to these changes.
• In addition, while trends may come and go, there are some that are going to be more stable
than others. It is key to evaluate each of these and determine if the investment and fit is most
appropriate for the audience and for the brand voice.
