ETHICS AND DOING BUSINESS ABROAD
Below are some situations for your students to consider that take into account concepts from Chapter
Eleven.
1. You’re working for a company that sells high tech computer software and has many international
customers. One of your international clients agrees to purchase your product but expects a kickback
(i.e., a payment made back to them) in return. What will you do?
2. You’re studying abroad in a high contact culture. Many of the other students in the class invade your
personal space and touch you frequently and think nothing of it. What will you do?
3. Recently a woman from Saudi Arabia visiting the US was injured in an automobile accident and was
sent to the emergency room. The emergency room physician was male. The injured Saudi woman
refused to be treated by the physician and requested/demanded to be seen by a female physician.
