Discussion Questions for Online/Hybrid Classes
1. Students learning online must rely on classmates to participate in class discussions.
Post a few effects of active classmate discussions and a few effects of inactive
discussions. (LO 9.1)
2. List some of the causes for taking online classes. For example, do you have a
difficult schedule? Do you prefer a computer classroom to an in-person classroom?
Share your list with your classmates. Highlight the causes listed by other students
that relate to you. (LO 9.5)
3. Pharmaceutical companies constantly advertise prescription drugs online and on
television. Count the number of ads you see relating to medicine over the course of
a single day. Post your findings online. Next, post a brief paragraph regarding the
effects these types of advertisements may have. Are they targeted to a particular
group? (LO 9.3)
4. Think about your closest friend or partner. What caused you to be drawn to that
person? Post a brief explanation. What effects have occurred since connecting with
this person? Share them with your online classmates.
