1. Write a comparison and contrast essay about two people who have impacted your
life. Did they influence you in a similar way? Where they similar in age? Were they
from the past or present?
2. Compare and contrast a job and a career. You may select actual places you’ve
worked or may focus on the concepts of jobs and careers. What are the differences?
Which do you hope to have? What do they have in common?
3. Select a movie that is based upon a book that you have read. Watch the movie and
write a compare and contrast essay showing the similarities and differences
between the film and the book. Did you find one better than the other? Was the
storyline the same or different? Did the characters in the movie match the
descriptions in the book?
4. Compare and contrast two types of pets. Is one more suitable for ownership than the
other? Do you have a personal preference?
