Writing Topics
1. Imagine yourself in five years. You have completed your program of study in college
and are working in your field. Describe how you’d like to see yourself at that time.
Where do you work? What is your title? What is different about you? What has
remained the same?
2. Take a moment and consider what you look for in a partner. Write an essay
describing the perfect man or woman for you. This may be your current partner or
someone you hope to be with one day. Think about physical features and personality
traits. For example, do you look for someone with a sense of humor? Do you want
someone romantic or who loves sports?
3. Describe one of your pet peeves. Why does it bother you? When does this annoying
incident happen? Use sensory words to help your audience understand your
feelings.
4. Think about a teacher or coach from your past who had a positive influence on you.
Write an essay describing this individual and the impact he or she made. Consider
giving it to the person when you are done.
