1. Think back to a time after a breakup with a partner, when both you and the other
party had more positive emotions than negative about the separation. What factors
were involved that allowed this positive outcome?
2. What do you think is the most important factor that contributes to relationships
ending? Is it the same for all close-relationships, including friendships? Why or why not?
3. Of the numerous breakup strategies mentioned in this chapter, which of them do you
feel is the least compassionate? Why? Which of the strategies seems to be the most
equitable for both partners? Why?
