dialects and stereotypes. Have them discuss the impact their dialect may have on how people
perceive them.
Post the different parts of language (phonology, morphology, syntax, semantics and pragmatics)
on sheets of paper in different areas of the room. Label each one with a number from 1-5. Assign

medium and low assistive technology devices.

Students will create their own graphic organizer for specific parts of the chapter.
Have students pair up and assign each a role of the SLP/Classroom teacher and the student. Have
them role play the different facilitative language strategies: focus contrast, modeling, event casts,
open questions, expansions, recasts, redirects and prompted initiations.
