Class Activities in Addition to MyLab Activities
Invite a guest speaker to class who is visually impaired. Encourage them to bring some of the
technological tools that assist them in their daily life. This is an extremely worthwhile activity
and allows students to see the equipment and to ask the speaker questions.
Students will create a list of things they can look for in children in their classroom who may be
struggling with vision. What are some characteristics of vision problems?
Pair students up and have one wear a blindfold while the other guides their partner around the
room and obstacles. When they are done, have each of them explain their perspective regarding
this activity.
