Have students go to the National Institute on Deafness and Other Communication Disorders
Have students refer to the Nondiscriminatory Evaluation Procedures in the text and create a
visual representation of the process for assessment for students suspected of being hard of
hearing.
One of the suggestions in developing an IEP is to utilize vocabulary development. Bring in a set
of random items and have students complete a K-W-L chart for each item.
What might a modified RtI model look like when working with students who are deaf and hard
of hearing? How might you structure the model to be effective for assessment?
