LECTURE OUTLINE (20 min)

• Describes important laboratory tests and clinical procedures used in gynecology and
obstetrics, and recognizes related abbreviations.

• As a class, discuss the Background Assessment and Critical Thinking Question below.
PRACTICE (15 min)
• Read the report in Practical Applications. Have students practice spelling, analyzing,
and defining the terms in this report. Terms should include at least the following:
endocervical, endometrial, leiomyomata, hysterectomy, and myomectomy.
