This instructor manual is a supplement for faculty using Preparing Effective Business Plans: An
Entrepreneurial Approach authored by Dr. Bruce R. Barringer.
Each chapter in this manual includes the following items:

This text and instructor manual provide you with many and varied discussion and application
questions, as well as three to six additional activities in each chapter. These have been designed
to provide you with the flexibility you need in consideration of your personal preferences, size of
your class, and the knowledge and skill levels of your students.
Additional Teaching Suggestions
Students will learn more and remember more when they are required to analyze, apply, and
evaluate what you teach them. Simply memorizing information for exams is not effective in
creating long-term learning.
By having your students actually apply all of the course concepts throughout the entire term on a
business concept of their choice, they will be more likely to develop and retain the knowledge
