1. Several examples of methods that might be used to analyze data are described in
Figure 3-4. Find examples of these methods in the literature or in your clinical setting. Do
the methods help to provide a picture of the data? Why or why not? Share your examples.
2. Visit the Transforming Care at the Bedside (TCAB) website. Review the content,
examples, PowerPoint presentations, and videos on the content. How does this content
about TCAB relate to content in this chapter?
Application Exercises:
1.
Divide into small teams. Change can be approached in a variety of ways; however, for
this exercise, you are asked to use Lewin’s force-field model of change, described in this
chapter. The team should identify something it would like to change in your nursing
program, or it could be in your course. Select something that is not too complex. Now
clearly state what you want to change and apply Lewin’s model. Describe what you
would do in each of the stages of the model. All teams should then share their proposed

2.
Interview a nurse manager or a team leader and ask about experience with change.
Prepare three questions for the interview. Summarize and share results with your team in
