Chapter 5 Lab Solutions
The labs in this manual are written for IOS version 12. You can upgrade your routers’
IOS to version 12 if necessary. If you don’t upgrade to version 12, the lab commands will
be slightly different in some cases. The “show version” command displays which IOS
version you are using.
Students will work with their teams. If possible, put no more than five students on a
team. In this way, every student is configuring a router. For these labs, you can use any
Windows computer that has HyperTerminal installed. Windows Vista requires a
download of HyperTerminal. You can get that free from
www.hilgraeve.com/htpe/download.html.
Instructor Tips Lab 5.1
If necessary, use the erase start command to erase the startup configuration on the
routers before students begin this lab.
