Case Projects
Case Project 1
Moe is right. The switches can be used to create VLANs, which can separate the departments by
creating broadcast domains between them. Upgrading a LAN doesn’t necessarily mean buying
routers. Routers should be purchased to interconnect LANs not to enhance LAN performance.
Implementing VLANs on the switches will enhance LAN performance and security.
Case Project 2
The Cisco 1900 switch can be configured via menus, the command line, or through a web
interface using the visual switch manager. The default settings on the switch are as follows:
The 1900 does support VLAN switching. 1005 VLANs are supported; however, if STP is used,
only 64 VLANs are supported.
