CHAPTER 7
INFRASTRUCTURE, CLOUD COMPUTING, METRICS, AND BUSINESS
CONTINUITY PLANNING:
BUILDING AND SUSTAINING THE DYNAMIC ENTERPRISE
STUDENT LEARNING OUTCOMES
2. Define and describe the various hardware and software infrastructure considerations in an
organization.
4. Compare and contrast commonly used metrics for assessing the success of IT systems and
IT-related issues.
5. Describe business continuity planning (BCP) and its phases.
CHAPTER SUMMARY
The chapter has four primary focuses: (1) hardware and software considerations within the
context of enterprise infrastructure, (2) cloud computing and its implementations, (3)
quantifiable metrics for assessing the success of an IT system, and (4) how to design and
implement a business continuity plan.
This chapter also revisits and formalizes some important topics within the book including
enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems, service-oriented architecture (SoA), and service
level agreement (SLA).
The primary sections of this chapter include:
2. IT Success Metrics
