manner is great. Employees at all levels in an organization are faced with numerous
dilemmas that require sound, values-based judgments. Therefore, all organizations should

the executive director and head of Goldman Sachs United States equity derivatives
business in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa resigned in an open letter published in
The New York Times. Greg Smith’s letter, entitled “Why I Am Leaving Goldman
Sachs,” is frank and brutal in its portrayal of Goldman Sachs’ culture of the vulture doing
whatever it takes to make money for the firm, referring to customers as “muppets,” and
making references to “ripping customers’ eyeballs out” to make a buck.
