student.” Ask several of them to share an item or two from their performance appraisal list and
ask the rest of the students why are the different?

1. In this chapter, we identified two of the main reasons for performance appraisals are to
motivate employees or use them for administrative functions. Identify a study that investigates
the relationship between performance appraisals and motivation. Was the study supportive of
this idea? Were the methods sound?
