1. The three common learning theories are classical conditioning, operant conditioning, and social
learning theory. If an employer were looking to shape your behavior, as an employee which theory
would you suggest they use?
3. The first major step in the training process is the needs assessment. A needs assessment is the
process of analyzing the difference between what is currently occurring within a job or jobs and what is
required—either now or in the future—based on the organization’s operations and strategic goals. How
would you approach a needs assessment with an employee that was struggling for whom you were
responsible? How would you sell the needs assessment to the employee as a step in the training
process?
