REVIEW (20 min)
Using the key terms flash cards that the students created as a homework assignment, have
the students split into pairs. Have one student state the definition of the term and the other
supply the term name. Switch roles and also have the students supply the terms to each other
and have the other give the definition. Continue until all have been identified.
Appropriate Settings: Traditional classroom, flipped classroom
a homework assignment, have the students share their finding with the class. Make a list of
their findings on the board.

CRITICAL THINKING QUESTION
A woman is scheduled for a full series of radiographs. The dental radiographer is using the XCP
instruments for the series and is prepared to start the procedure. Upon placement of the XCP and
film in the patient’s mouth, the patient appears to be very uncomfortable with the procedure and
removes the XCP and film immediately, stating she is in pain. She says it hurts the roof of her
mouth and she can’t bite down to hold it in place. What adjustments will the dental radiographer
need to make with this radiographic technique?
Discussion Guidelines: The patient appears to have a very shallow palate, which is not a good indicator
