CRITICAL THINKING QUESTIONS
1. A former patient comes into the dental office and states that she has recently been diagnosed
with skin cancer. She demands her x-rays and treatment record, and claims that she was exposed
to unnecessary radiation during her visits. How should the dental radiographer respond? Can the
dental radiographer be held responsible?
Discussion Guidelines: In a situation like this it is important that the dental radiographer remain calm
2. A dental radiographer has just begun working at a new office. The staff informs the new
radiographer that in the past they have had problems with x–rays having to be retaken. The
previous dental radiographer in charge of quality assurance had trouble finding time to follow up
on quality control tests and realized something was wrong only when the staff was busy attending
