Chapter Activities
Chapter 6
The following are activities to practice and hone you skills.
1. Sometimes our own values and beliefs towards religion and spirituality can filter objectivity. It is
important to know what our spiritual lens is. Break into small groups and discuss your own views
on God and spirituality. Are your views all the same? How comfortable are you with others
views?
2. Receiving feedback is not always easy. Break into small groups (3–4) and discus a time you
received some critical feedback (no need to go into personal detail). Share what that experience
was like for you. What feeling came up? Did you feel defensive? How did you respond? Was the
experience negative or positive? Did the manner in which the person gave you the feedback
factor into your response? How?
3. Break into groups of 5–8. Conduct a reading group using one of the group styles references in
this chapter. Remember to have someone read a few sentences and then discuss what they
read with the group. Does this give you a deeper understanding of the material than if you read
it alone? What is different?
