The following are activities to practice and hone you skills.
1. Generate a class discussion on these scenarios:
a. You are the clinical director. A counselor comes into your office and shares that he/she
gave the posted “consequence” to a client for breaking a rule. Other staff on the unit
are not enforcing this consequent. How would you address this issue?
b. You are the clinical director. There is a disagreement between the staff psychiatrist and
the counselor over a medication prescribed. How would you address this issue? What
are some factors that could complicate this situation?
2. Review the Case Presentation on P 226. On what sections would you need help from the
Physician? Nurse? Rehabilitation Tech. What important information might you get from the
Recreational Therapist? Family Therapist?
