Fire Safety Tips for Travelers*
Please review the safety tips below to ensure you are safe if there is a fire in the hotel or motel
where you are staying.
Students may have broken some bulleted items in different ways.
After Check-in
• Study the evacuation plan posted in your room. If a plan is not posted, request one.
• Locate at least two exits near your room.
In Case of Fire
• If the fire is in your room, get out quickly. Close the door, activate the alarm, and notify
the front desk.
• Use the stairs, not the elevator.
• If the fire is not in your room, leave only if it is safe to do so. Take your room key with
