Students should have proofread the resume, made corrections, and produced a clean copy.
The resume with corrections highlighted appears on the next page. For the correction in the
misspelling of Naperville, students should have used the Internet to verify the name of the
city, if they did not know it. Encourage students to use the Internet and other resources to
check and resolve inconsistencies in addresses and other factual information. The use of the
wrong font in one of the items in the first bulleted list provides a good opportunity to acquaint
students with the Format Painter feature.
Students should also have prepared a second version of the corrected resume, formatted for
posting online, using the Internet, if necessary, as a resource for formatting information.
Reformatted resumes will vary, but generally, they should have features like these:
• A single column
• At least 1-inch margins
• Simple typefaces
• Fonts from 10- to 14-point
• Solid bullets
• Blank lines between sections
• A keywords section
Elaborate formatting, such as italics and graphics, should be avoided.
