EXERCISE DESCRIPTION
To complete this exercise lay out the corners of the site
shown in Lab Manual Figure 10–2 and construct batter-
boards to locate the alignment and grades of each corner
of the project.
ADDITIONAL INSTRUCTIONAL TECHNIQUES
Repeating this exercise in combination with other proj-
ects in later sections will improve the effectiveness of
skills gained in this exercise.
EVALUATION RECOMMENDATIONS
Evaluation of this exercise should include the following
criteria:
• Student established correct project corners.
• Placement of batterboards was beyond project
corners and centered on project edges.
• Batterboards were securely anchored and did not
move.
• Crosspieces were securely attached and, if
applicable, at the proper elevation.
