Officers in the armed forces tend to use legitimate power with troops. Military recruits are conditioned
to follow orders without questioning authority. In fact, it is a crime for a military member to willfully
disobey any lawful order. However, many military officers issue unlawful orders to recruits and expect
them to obey them.
