The World Happiness Report 2017 assesses 155 countries using a 1 to 10 scale that measures
national happiness. Norway (7.53) has the highest score and Central African Republic (2.69) has
the lowest score. The United States is ranked 14th (6.99).
Ask students: Why is the United States ranked only 14th? In small groups, discuss if you agree
with this assessment and why, or why not?
• Similarities exist between the World Happiness Report correlation factors and
Aristotle’s conceptualization of happiness.
