ORGANIZATION CHANGE COURSE ASSIGNMENT: Book Review
One exercise that can be useful is to ask students to read a book on organization change, do a
book review and then hold a “poster session” class so students can see other reviews. The
instructions for this exercise are given below as well as a marking key.

Book Review Assignment:
There are many excellent books on organization change. Choose one that interests you and
write a two to four page book review on it. The review should contain the following components:
1. a very brief review of the author’s key points.
2. a section relating the book to course materials and how it fits or does not fit with those
In addition to the review that is handed in, students will create a poster which includes an outline
of the book, the student’s evaluation of the book, how the book relates to course material, and
the managerial implications of the book. One class will be devoted to displaying the posters
created by students. During this class, students will be at their posters to discuss the book for
half the time and will be free to learn from others during the other half of the class.
