Chapter 6: An Introduction to Gender in Social Institutions
Instructors are provided with two sets of questions to engage students: discussion questions
(in the text) and reading questions (below).
1. What is the relationship between prejudice and institutionalized discrimination?
2. Think of a social institution you participate in. How does the institution you chose enforce
and sustain gender expectations?
3. How does thinking about interpersonal violence as institutional violence change the way
we think about it and its solutions?
