Chapter 4: Gendered/Sexed Bodies
Instructors are provided with two sets of questions to engage students: discussion questions
(in the text) and reading questions (below).

2. Are there ways you find yourself disciplining your gendered performance or others’
gendered performance?
3. What are the effects of our cultural norms regarding attractiveness?
4. What are the implications of societal expectations for attractiveness in men?
5. Where do you think these expectations come from?
6. How have cultural ideals of attractiveness changed across time?
7. How is clothing disciplined? Offer at least two examples.
