Lab 3
Period and Frequency
To the Instructor: This is designed to help students with the conversion between seconds and
milliseconds and to see the relationship between period and frequency.
Conversion from time to frequency:
Convert the following to frequency (remember that f, frequency =1/T, where T is expressed in
seconds).
T =.002 sec, frequency = ___________ Hz
T =.001 sec, frequency = ___________
T =.111 sec, frequency = ___________
T =.029 sec, frequency = ___________
Figure frequency for the following (don’t forget the “Hz” notation). For these problems that
follow, you need to convert to seconds before calculating: Remember that seconds = msec
divided by 1000
For example, given 125 msec, “seconds” = 125/1000 = .125 seconds
T = 125 msec, frequency = ___________ Hz
T = 221 msec, frequency = ___________
T = 101 msec, frequency = ___________
T = 12 msec, frequency =___________
