WALL STREET
(Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment, feature length)
The New York stock exchange provides the backdrop for a profound inquiry into the ethics and behavior of
individuals and organizations in a capitalistic society. The film’s leading characters try to make as much
money as they can, bending and breaking the law as they pursue their financial goals. In the process, they
present the caricature of the business person as predator― one for whom the challenge of the deal and the
desire to win are everything. In this Darwinian world, they come to grips with the assertion that greed…is
good. The film presents a wide range of ethical questions, including whether or not an act is immoral when
nobody gets hurt or when everybody’s doing it. Topics include: Ethics/Values, Power/ Authority,
Organizational Culture, and Conflict Resolution.

MANAGEMENT BY PARTICIPATION
(BNA, 30 min.)
Behavioral science has been applied to business problems by the Harwood Company for over 25 years due
to the influence of Board Chairman Alfred J. Marrow. In this film, he describes how a changeover to new
procedures was handled at the Marion, Virginia plant. Psychologists divided employees into three groups,
each applying different methods of handling the changeover. One group was treated autocratically, a
second group elected delegates to meet with management to discuss ways of changing methods, and all of
the employees in the
third group met with management to plan the change. The most productive transition was achieved by the
third group. Dramatic vignettes highlight the change in supervisors’ and employees’ attitudes as they
gradually accept the idea of participation based on new concepts of trust and responsibility.

belief that human nature responds to the challenge of a responsible, satisfying job. In Part I, Description of
the Theory, discussion is devoted to a comparison of the two sets of assumptions. In Part II, Application of
the Theory, the viewer is shown why a Theory Y manager will be more likely to elicit greater job

Diversity is often considered a sensitive issue instead of a positive force in the workplace. This stems from
the human tendency to judge others by preconceived notions about their abilities and attitudes. But when

unleashes the fullest potential in all people. This video helps viewers recognize that gender, race, and
