Selecting Your Target Market –green hub
Select your Target Market segment
from the green hub. Click on each
market segment to learn about its
Market Size, Growth Rate, Purchase
Behavior, Price Preference, and
desired Backpack Characteristics.
Product Development: Designing Your
Backpack –red hub
You will design a backpack for your target market by choosing its:
•Shape,
•Straps,
•Material,
•Color, and
•Special features.
Setting Your Price –orange hub
Place: Select Your Distribution Options - brown
hub
Click on each potential Channel Partner to
examine channel details, including total
customer reach, accepted price range, your
anticipated profit margin, and more. If the
terms look agreeable, select “accept terms.”
Media Advertising: Choosing Your Benefit
Messages –yellow hub
Click on the various media options (Print,
Internet, Television, Radio, and Poster) and
review details such as Demographic Reach,
Circulation, Rate, Quarterly Cost, and
Campaign Cost. Determine which options you
would like to select, and click on the desired
frequency (0x, 1x, 2x, 4x, 8x).
Measuring Performance –Viewing Game Data
After ending a turn (using the green button on the far right bottom
bar), you can view summary data for your game by clicking on
the Reports button in the bottom bar of the simulation. This will
give you the results of the last turn.
Tutorial Mode (Optional; If assigned)
If your instructor has assigned a Tutorial, you will
be guided by your Marketing Colleagues as you
explore the game interface. The tutorial consists of
six turns that walk you through each of the six
decision areas: Target Segment, Product, Price,
Marketing Channels, Positioning, and Competitive
Analysis. This mode does not save scores.
