Noncadaver Lab)
To the Instructor:
This can be either a cadaver or a noncadaver lab. You may wish to add some of the following
images from the Image Library to the lab guide so that students will have them at hand as a
reference in the lab.

Inferior surface of tongue
Genioglossus and related muscles
Lateral and medial pterygoid

indicated below.
Muscles of the tongue:
superior longitudinal
inferior longitudinal
vertical
transverse
genioglossus
hyoglossus
palatoglossus
styloglossus
Muscles of mastication:
masseter
temporalis
internal (medial) pterygoid
external (lateral) pterygoid
Muscles of the velum:
tensor veli palatini
levator veli palatini
musculus uvulae
palatoglossus
palatopharyngeus
superior, middle, and inferior constrictors
