NOTE: if you have access to web sites in your classroom, I suggest doing this as a class activity, rather than have students do it on
their own. If you do, you need to revise the activity.
STEP 1: Have students identify a persuasive topic and a potential audience. If they’re going to do a
critically about their audience and their speech.
ACTIVITY #12.2: INVENTION AND DISPOSITION. (To help students plan what they would include in a
speech and understand how they could use stock issues to develop a persuasive speech.)
STEP 1: Have students individually think of a topic for a speech. If your class requires a persuasive
