SKILL BUILDING EXERCISE, SB-4.1
Time Management System
Total time (0-20 minutes)
The learning for this exercise comes primarily through the out of class preparation (preparing a week plan and schedule, and
day(s) schedule), rather than during class. You can assign it and spend no class time on it. Or keep it to 5 minutes by doing
procedure 1 only. If you wish to spend more time you may do so by using the conclusion, application, and/or sharing.
Skills Assessment of SB 4-1 (Questions and Answers also in Test Bank)
It would be better to assess time management skills by having students pass in their preparation for the in-class exercise.
However, you can use a simplified approach as follows.
1. Time Management. Write step 1 of the time management system, followed by one objective of what you want to
accomplish next week. Write step 2, followed by stating which day(s) of the week you will accomplish the objective. Write
step 3, followed by the specific time of day you will accomplish the objective.
Answer -
Step 1. Plan your week.
page-pf9
Step 2. Schedule your week.
Step 3. Schedule your day.
SKILL BUILDING EXERCISE, SB-4.2
Career Planning
Total time (0-30 minutes)
Most of learning takes place out of class through the development of a career plan. You can assign it, and not spend class time
on it. Or you can give the students 10 minutes or more to discuss their career plans and add a conclusion and/or sharing if you
want to.
Skills Assessment of SB 4-2 (Questions and Answers also in Test Bank)
It would be better to assess career planning skills by having students pass in their preparation for the in-class exercise.
However, you can use a simplified approach as follows. You can also tell students that they must write the objective
following the Objective Model from Chapter 6, and make using the objective model part of the grading.
1. Career Planning. Write step 1 of the career planning model, followed by a brief answer. Write steps 2 - 4, each followed by
a brief answer. Write step 5, the brief answer is optional.
Answer -
Step 1. Self-Assessment.
Step 2. Career preferences and exploration.
Step 3. Set career objectives.
Step 4. Develop a plan.
Step 5. Control.
