A LEER: LECTURA CULTURAL (p. 490)
Más sobre el Paraguay
To answer the phone: ¡Hola!
A LEER: DEL MUNDO HISPANO (p. 491)
Un paso más: Working in groups, have students brainstorm lists of different places and occasions
in which potential couples can meet each other. Some possibilities: las residencias,
las clases, los clubes. Lead the class in a discussion of the options, with the “master
list” on the board. Then assign each place/occasion to a pair or small group of
students and ask them to list the advantages and disadvantages of each setting.
Have pairs or group share their ideas with the whole class and facilitate a whole–
class discussion of the options.
Optional Writing Activity: Have students write a hypothetical transcript of the messages that the two
individuals in the story exchanged, including their opinions and perceptions of the
world, the (fake) stories that she told about her dance tours and that he told about
his exciting social life. Students can write the transcript themselvesor work in pairs
with one playing the part of the man and the other, the woman.
