B. Digital Enhancements
We added integrated eBook audio throughout the entire program so students can not only hear
vocabulary as it is introduced, but also listen to the readings, Gramatica en acción, and cultural
pieces.
• LearnSmart personalized and adaptive learning modules have been completely refreshed. We now
have a module for every grammar topic, vocabulary modules that focus on the most frequently used
terms for practical communication, and we’ve added a Countries and Capitals module to help
students with the geography of the Spanish-speaking world.
• The Writing Assignments tool in Connect allows for peer editing/review for collaborative student
• Heritage Learner PowerPoints, Support Modules (assignable in Connect), and updated Instructor
annotations provide teaching resources so instructors can meet the very specific needs of these
learners.
• We created new student-focused Cultural PowerPoints that highlight important cultural
information about 21 Spanish-speaking countries.
• We divided the Salu2 videos into two shorter segments and created a full array of activities to make
these videos even more accessible.
C. Additional Changes
Instructors who used the Ninth Edition will note changes to the chapter openers of each chapter.
These continue to be a two-page spread with chapter content and theme, and information about the
target country or countries, but now are much more active and engaging. Personal chapter opener
questions and answers from native speakers from various parts of the Spanish-speaking world get

• NCSSFL-ACTFL Can-Do Statements and student checklist at the end of each chapter tie student
learning to outcomes.
• The ¡Anticipemos! activities of previous editions have been replaced in this edition by carefully
crafted three-paso activities that allow students to start communicating from the beginning of
the practice sequence. These activities, which start in Gramática 3 (Capítulo 2) are generally the
first activity in the Práctica y comunicación sequence. They are second only when an
Asociaciones activity (to practice the meaning of new vocabulary precedes them. Paso 1 of the
sequence is always Autoprueba, a brief boxed self-test that allows students to quickly check
whether they have understood the main focus of the grammar section. Answers to the
Autoprueba are given at the bottom of the page.
•Now in addition to the Nota cultural boxes, we have shorter, more frequent Algo sobre cultural
boxes throughout the program with discussion questions designed to have students compare and
contrast the Spanish-speaking world with where they live.
•One of the main enhancements to the Tenth Edition of Puntos is extensive Instructor’s
Annotations throughout the program. Now each grammar point and activity has a note,
suggestion, or other annotation to help you plan your lessons and teach smooth, engaging classes.
•In the Tenth Edition, brief summaries appear at the end of all grammar explanations (and close
to the Autoprueba feature). The summaries highlight, in chart form, the essence of the grammar
topic that students need to master.
• We developed a new testing program for print and digital users with versions that support
various teaching methods.
