6. How have trans-local developments (globalization) challenged conventional development
theory? What are some new approaches to development that transcend conventional
theories?
7. Does the emergence of the BRIC nations confirm or unsettle sequential (or linear)
conceptions of development? How can the rise of BRIC nations be understood from a
relational conception of development?
8. How have International Financial Institutions represented the financial crisis? How do
their representations of the crisis reveal a politics of framing development? What
relations do they conceal and what are the effects of their representations/framings of
development?
