Disability Discrimination
1. Disability discrimination is covered under the Civil Rights Act.
2. Drug addicts are not covered under the ADA.
3. Cancer is a disability.
1. The ADA applies to all employers.
4. Mental disabilities are covered under the ADA.
6. Employers are required to hire disabled workers who are less qualified.
1. An employer must make reasonable accommodations for disabled employees.
2. A 2 story office building built before the ADA must install an elevator or a ramp.
3. The ADAAA overruled the U.S. Supreme Court decision in Sutton v. United Airlines.
10. A person who has the ability to correct a disability such as by wearing glasses may still be
covered under the ADAAA.
11. AIDS is considered a disability only when the employee can no longer perform the job.
12. If an employee has AIDS, the employer must accommodate the person until he or she can no
longer perform the job at which time the employee may be discharged.
13. An employee with a contagious disease must be discharged immediately.
