Zarathustra received visions from Ahura Mazda, who appointed him to preach the truth.
Zarathustra apparently was opposed in his teaching by the civil and religious authorities in the
area in which he preached. Zoroastrianism is one of the most ancient religions of the world. At
one time it was the dominant religion of Iran and adjoining regions. Its popularity declined when
the Islamic invader occupied Iran and introduced Islam.
The role that Ahura Mazda played in Zoroastrianism was held to have created the world
and all the good creatures. Ahura Mazda was a pure, rational and all-knowing God and couldn’t
produce any form of disorder .
Zoroastrians believe that life on Earth is fraught with dangers because of the presence of
evil. People can commit sin by not following the religious instruction of God by not practicing
