We are continuously told to never give up: To stand up for what we believe in, and to fight
for what we want or who we love. But what happens when we do just that, and we fail?
For months, I believed in a love that I thought was real. I spent every moment of my life
catering to someone else’s needs, making sure someone else was happy, and investing
more time and effort into that person than I have anything else in my entire life. As time
went on, I found myself caring more and more, but I was doing so because he began caring
less and less. While my focus was solely on him, his focus was on everyone but me; While

Eventually, I came to believe and understand the concept of self-worth. I spent all this
time, nearly a year and a half, always putting someone else before myself, when instead, it
