9. Recall our in-class discussion on deciding swing actors’ pay. Many students
proposed that they would give low base salary along with incentive based on on-
stage performance. Give a critique on this approach by using one of cognitive
theory in motivation.
Based on the example that we discuss on class I will choose the expectancy
theory. Because its about behavioral process in which a person chooses one
specific and necessary option over the others and that decision will influence on
the process of archiving the career goals. I will be focused more en the
instrumentality factor because it refers to the belief that an individual will
receive a reward based on the satisfaction of required performance. The rewards
can be in many forms such as extrinsic, instincts, monetary or non-monetary.
The reward that the person receives must be for a performed as a job duty. In
order to archive this theory you have to keep on mind three factors such as
control, policies and trust.
