During a peaceful afternoon at my grandparents’ some years back, I decided to venture to
their basement and there I discovered pieces of history, old vinyl records. Each of the 3 vinyl’s I
saw they were organized into different decades, 1980s, 1990s, and 2000s. Me being the young
child I was, I decided to research on these mysterious rappers and rap groups, and their history.
There, I discovered the history of the music genre of rap. Music has been prevalent for many
years, and rap is no different. These vinyl’s make me think about how the genre of rap has
changed a lot since the inception of rap, back in the 1980s.
Wiping off the dust from the 1980s section of the vinyl’s made me believe rap used to be
very different; and in fact, in the 1980s, rap was in its early stages. Vinyl records had been
