Yalom Group Therapy .
Irvin Yalom is been a specialist of existential psychotherapy. Existential psychotherapy
stresses that mental health issues are sometimes induced by life challenges. Common themes
include fear of death, the movement towards freedom, and the desire to avoid isolation.
Existential psychotherapy acknowledges four basic psychological challenges for which all
humans struggle: loneliness, meaninglessness, mortality and autonomy. Through his prose,
Yalom has helped to describe existentialism and show its therapeutic value. Additionally,
Yalom’s analysis of community counseling and experience guided him to recognize eleven
common causes contributing to major improvements and transitions for community participants.
Although he was a skeptic at first, Yalom became a long-standing advocate for group therapy; he
believed that group therapy created different dynamics which improve healing while engaging
the therapist. Group counselors cultivate a climate of cohesiveness, cooperation and cohesion.
Interaction between participants of the community offers the catalyst for progress, and the
function of the therapist is to promote that interaction.Yalom believed the group therapeutic
process could be divided between 11 factors and marks the importance that none of the factors
