Yahoo includes features such as a search engine, an email service, a directory, and a
news branch. Yahoo was founded in January 1994 by Jerry Yang and David Filo, who were
Electrical Engineering graduate students from Stanford University. Yahoo began as a simple
collection of Yang and Filo’s favorite Websites they created a website named “Jerry and David’s
Guide to the World Wide Web”. As the site grew it was renamed Yahoo an acronym for “Yet
Another Hierarchical Officious Oracle.” In 1995, Yahoo acquired various companies such as
Rocket mail and ClassicGames.com, which eventually became Yahoo Mail and Yahoo Games.
Yahoo managed to survive the collapse of many Internet platforms in the early 2000s. Although
Yahoo sustained heavy economic losses in recent years.
Yahoo grew rapidly throughout the 1990s when Yahoo went public in April 1996. This
created a rise in its stock price by 600 percent within two years. Yahoo then added a web portal
