Writing Project 1 Summary
In Arundhati Roy’s speech, “Come September,” she focuses on the issues of nationalism
and global neighborhood on War Against Terror. Also, Roy recognizes the illusions of
contemporary society, the growing chasm between moral standards of society (meaning social
class), and the struggles for citizens that have been going on for centuries. In the beginning, Roy
mentions the brain-washed citizenry and how the states are involved. In arguing, she commences
that anti-national is a person who is in opposition to his or her own country. Roy uses the example
of the month of September that had mortifying impacts on citizens around the world. Roy reminds
