The concepts of the course and the first part of the textbook that have stuck with me would be
the importance of management skills, business ethics, and “organizing for myself and delegating”. To
have good management skills I had to learn the foundation of those skills which are, technical,
interpersonal, and decision-making skills. I found this portion of the textbook particularly helpful
because I wanted to learn how to be a good a manager, and I learned that my management skills were
good but they could be improved. The business ethics portion of the text stood out to me because I
never thought about my ethical behavior or what ethical behavior entailed until I read the text. I was
surprised by the questions the text asked me because I never thought of certain actions being unethical,
even though my score for the ethical behavior excise was impeccable I had exhibited unethical behavior
by not reporting my coworkers for their unethical behavior. I always thought that If I was doing right
then nothing else mattered, but I was wrong. The behavior of my colleges is a reflection on me and the
book taught me that. Another important skill I learn from the class is organizing for myself and
delegating. Coming to college showed me how unorganized I was and how poor my time management
skills were. The class and the text gave me examples on how to improve my skills and how to help others
do the same. I found this part of the book crucial to my success as a college and has a future manager.
The second part of the textbook gave me several other concepts that I will take with me for the
rest of my college life and into my future career. The differences between training and development
were significant to my understanding of management because I thought the two were basically the
same thing until I went through the course. Training is the preparation every employee must go through
to learn the skills needed to perform a job properly. Developing is a continual learning process that
every employee experiences to enhance their skills for present and future jobs. The differences were
important to me because I want to make sure I am developing my employees in the future. Stress
Management was an important concept that I learned from the book that helped me tremendously in
my college academic career. I learned that I have a Type A stress personality which means I tend to be
more stressed than other people. The text taught me how to put less stress on to myself and others by
having better time management, by sleeping more, and setting aside time for relaxation. I always
